Mesopotamia
Mesopotamia is a name for the Tigris and Euphrates
rivers, it also means ''between the rivers'' in Greek. Mesopotamia included
Sumer, and the Akkadian, Babylonian, and Assyrian empires. At about 150 BC, Mesopotamia was under
the control of the Parthians. It also became a
battlefield between the Romans and the Parthians, with parts of Mesopotamia
coming under the Roman's control. The earliest language written in Mesopotamia
was Sumerian. Along with Sumerians, Semitic languages were also spoken in early
Mesopotamia.
Ancient
Mesopotamians had ceremonies every month, as they would often have Festivals as
well. Mesopotamians would believe that their king and queens would descend from
the City of Gods, unlike the ancient Egyptians who don’t believe that their
kings were real gods. Sumerians were agricultural people, so they ate what they
farmed: wheat, barley, lentils, beans, garlic, and milk products. Only the
wealthy would eat meat.
