Science

In science this term we are studying fluids. A fluid is a substance that has no fixed shape and exerts pressure. A fluid is a gas or liquid but not a solid. They take the shape of their container and are capable of flowing. We just covered the topic of buoyancy. We recently learned things like what negative buoyancy is, what the formula of pressure is, and why things that are so heavy are capable of floating.

We are currently learning about rivers. In the past few days, we were able to cover topics such as flood plains and watersheds. Watersheds describe the flow of water in a region to a common destination. There are five major drainage basins in Canada. Flood plains occur after a heavy rain. A stream will carry more water than usual and causes the water level to rise. Not only did we learn about drainage basins and flood plains, but much more and will continue learning more throughout this unit. It is a very interesting unit in my opinion and it is very fun to learn about.
