Memories and Accomplishments

In grade 7 I made the Honour Roll. It was one of my greatest accomplishments because I am the first one in family to make the honour roll. I strived to reach this goal and I made it happen. Knowing I was the only one in my family to receive this award, it made me feel proud and my family proud. i accomplished this goal easily by keeping my marks high and having all my work handed in on time.

This March I went on a trip to India. It was mainly to visit family that was there. The plane ride was very long and had uncomfortable. When we arrived in India, it was nice and relaxing because there was no work for us to do and we didn't have to worry about doing anything. The only thing that wasn't convenient was that we couldn't go anywhere on our own and need a driver or someone to take us on their scooter or motorcycle. Life in India is much different than life in Canada. One difference is that all their water comes right from the ground and is not filtered. To shower we would have to wait for the water to heat up and sometimes I would have to take cold showers because everyone else took the hot water. The power would go out frequently so one time the water could not be heat and from the shower, so we had to heat up the water on the fire and take a bucket shower, which my brother enjoyed. A major difference in India than Canada would be that mostly everything in India is outdoors, like all their shops and their houses are all mainly outdoors, well the older ones anyway. The newer homes are built like a style similar to ours in Canada. Houses in India are built with bricks and are huge.

In grade 7 I qualified for an event in track for the first time. I was so proud in myself and shocked. I was shocked because I never thought I would make it for high jump. I would say that that track day was luck. Going to the track meet was very nerve-racking and i didn't make it very far for high jump, so thats where I guess I say that day was luck. It was a very nice day to hang out with friends and see people I knew from outside of school.

My 3 Favourite Memories by Faith :)

My first favourite memory was when I went to Vancouver with my mom. I was still very young then (about 5 or 6), so details about the memory are quite vague. However, I remember I went with my cousins to a lot of places like an amusement park, the beach, lots of shops and restaurants, Chinatown, and this really cool evening outdoor market which sold lots of unique and cute items (some of which I still have as a keepsake). It was really fun because not only did I get to go somewhere other than Winnipeg, but I also got to spend time with my relatives who live in Vancouver.

My second favourite memory was when I had my first singing recital. I was really nervous and excited at the same time to be performing in front of lots of people. I had practiced so hard just to make sure I would sound good during my performance. When I stepped on stage my family was smiling, and it was comforting to know that I had a whole group of people supporting me. I sang and everybody clapped afterwards. It felt good to be appreciated for my effort. I’m still really thankful that I got such a good response even though I was still young and had a lot to learn when it came to singing. Sadly, I stopped my voice lessons but maybe one day I'll try again and perform, because I kind of miss it.

My third and final favourite memory was having laugh attacks with my friends throughout this school year. I’m sure my other classmates have seen me and usually Ngoc, just dying of laughter in the corner. No one around us ever gets why we’re laughing. They just stare at us and ask “Are you okay?” while looking at us like we’re crazy. The utter confusion of everyone else around us just makes it even funnier. They do say “laughter is the best medicine” and I believe it is. It’s a way of bonding and strengthening friendships because it’s fun when you’re laughing with someone. I don’t exactly remember what we were laughing at in particular at the time (or times, rather, as I think we’ve had more than 10 SEVERE laugh attacks already), but I can say that it was fun.

My favorite memory
My first favorite memory is the memory of playing and hanging out with my old friends in Dubai. We would go to malls and just talk and hang out. We would go to one of their houses and watch a scary movie. We made a challenge that if you get scared you have to watch it alone for 5 minutes while they try to scare you.

My second memory is when I traveled to Canada from Philippines. It felt amazing being in a new country, trying to learn its cultures and getting used to its new way of life. Canada looked very different from Dubai mainly because Dubai is a desert which had very less greenery. I also liked my first winter here in Canada.

My third memory is when I had a long vacation with my friends in Philippines. We would talk about what happened with our lives and play some video games. It was an amazing memory cause we had not seen each other for a long time.
My Three Favourite Memories

My three favourite memories were when it was my uncle and aunts 50th anniversary, and it was the end of the night, which was like 4 in the morning, and my brother and my uncle went to McDonalds and bout a bunch of burgers and fries, and they were in three enormous bags. By the time we were done it was like 7am, and we fell asleep then woke up at 11am to go swimming. My second favourite was when my brother, cousin, and I went driving all over the city, then bought pizza and watched like 5 movies. The last favourite memory of mine was when my family and I went to Ottawa for my uncles wedding and the night of the reception everyone went to my uncles house and we just talked and ate pizza.
 Accomplishments

  1. Provincial team- Last year, I made the U13 provincial team for soccer. We had 4 weeks of tryouts in the snow and rain. It was sometimes -20 below when we played! I didn't make the traveling roster but still had a great time and was definitely one of my greatest accomplishments.
  2. Honour roll- Last year, I achieved the honour roll. Throughout the year I was consistent and I was very proud of myself. I didn't know how grade 7 was or how hard and a lot weighed on me to achieve this. I hope to achieve this year again.
  3. Premier 1- This year I made the Southend United soccer premier 1 team. Last year I was very disappointed I didn't make it and others could agree. This year i made it though and I'm having a lot more fun

                          My Accomplishments
Today I will be presenting about my top three favourite memories and accomplishments. This year was very enjoyable for me because I achieved everything that I wanted to. I received many amazing opportunities this year that have helped me become more confident. My top three memories/accomplishments this year were making it onto the honour roll, performing at the Gala for Manitoba Dance Festival, and completing my ballet exam. These three events helped me gain more skills in different areas and are memories that I will never forget.
One of my accomplishments was making it onto the honour roll this year.  It felt like a huge accomplishment because this was the first year that we wrote exams. It was one of my goals to make it on honour roll this year, so accomplishing it along with exams was very rewarding.  Through this experience I learned that they weren’t actually hard, as long as you study. I was happy to learn that I had received good marks this term. My family was very proud of me.
My second accomplishment was making it into the Gala at Manitoba Dance Festival. Manitoba Dance Festival is an annual competition that showcases many of the dance schools in Manitoba. My group received gold for ballet and hip hop. We received gold honours for our jazz, lyrical, and modern dances. We received adjudicator’s choice for our jazz dance with a score of 100. We also received adjudicator’s choice for our lyrical dance. It was exciting to perform at Gala because my group had never made it in before. It was a great performance.
My third accomplishment was taking my ballet exam this year. I didn’t do it last year because there was no exam for my level, so I didn’t think I would do very well. I felt really nervous because some examiners were stricter than others. There were also a lot of French terms we had to memorize. I was worried that I would mess up or forget certain steps. After I completed mine, I felt like a lot of pressure went away and I felt pretty confident. I was extremely happy to receive a mark of distinction because I worked very hard for it.

Serena's Blog Post (Accomplishments)

For my blog post today I will be talking about 3 accomplishments that I’ve made this year. This year has been an important year. I have been faced with many new challenges. My main three accomplishments would have to be making it through exams, participating in dance competitions, and playing on the school volleyball team. These are all things that I previously had as goals. After achieving these goals I felt really happy with myself.

Exams were definitely a stressful time. I had never done exams before which made things seem more intimidating. Fortunately, I was able to become focused on studying and be well prepared for all the exams. Immediately after writing each exam, I felt accomplished even though I hadn’t seen my mark yet. Once writing all exams, a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. In the end, I felt that exams weren’t so bad and that it was a great achievement for me to pass all my exams with good marks.

This year I also got the opportunity to participate in dance competitions. It was a good accomplishment for me because my group ended up doing very well. It was good to know that all the hard work we put into our dance had paid off in the end. I’m happy with the commitment I gave to practicing and performing.  The dance competitions were a fun experience to be a part of.

At the beginning of this year I also played on the school volleyball team. It felt like an accomplishment to make the competitive team. It was really fun to practice and play with everyone on the team. Being on the volleyball team was really beneficial for me to be a part of. I feel I gained more skill and confidence.
